kate walshKate Walsh called in to chat about season 2 of her critically-acclaimed series “13 Reasons Why,” which returns to Netflix on Friday.  Kate revealed all spoilers for the new season (which unfortunately could not be included on the podcast version for legal reasons — sorry!), gave us an update on her health (following surgery to remove a thankfully benign brain tumor) and talked about the joys and challenges of turning 50.

Felicia Day is starring as Kinga Forrester(the daughter of the evil Dr. Clayton Forrester) on the new Mystery Science Theater 3000, which premieres with 14 new episodes on Netflix this Friday (4/14/17).  We talked (of course) about our love for the original series, how the series is faithful to the old while introducing new elements, and what it’s like to have Patton Oswalt as her loyal henchman.

Scott AukermanScott Aukerman made his record-shattering 8th appearance on our Show, this time talking about “Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special,” which he co-directed and co-executive produced and is out now on Netflix. We discussed the origin of the special, why Comedy Bang! Bang’s signature mix of comedy, love and music made for a perfect match with Michael Bolton, and why this special could and should be a significant part of a romantic weekend.  Plus:  favorite lines from Comedy Bang! Bang!, filming in Australia on Christmas Day, and a medical explanation of male excitement.

Kari Byron and Tory Belleci

Kari Byron and Tory Belleci returned to The Big Wakeup Call to talk about their new Netflix series, “The White Rabbit Project.”  We discussed the concept of the show, why Kari repeatedly slapped Tory in the face, whether or not we’ll see Tory going over Niagara Falls in a barrel, and what we could see when they release a “wacky bloopers” reel.

Colin Quinn

Colin Quinn’s new comedy special, “Colin Quinn: The New York Story,” premieres this Friday on Netflix.  We discussed the theme of the special, along with his one attempt at morning radio, working with Jerry Seinfeld, and an uncalled-for insult on Instagram from Any Schumer.


Tori Amos

Tori Amos composed and performed a new song, “Flicker” for the movie “Audrie & Daisy,” now available on Netflix.  The film tells the stories of two women who are sexually assaulted and then cyberbullied in the aftermath of their attacks.  Tori talked about how she wrote the song after viewing the film and how we can open a national dialogue on cyberbullying and sexual abuse.  We also discussed the upcoming 20th anniversary of her “Boys for Pele” record.

Florencia Lozano from “Narcos”

Florencia Lozano plays DEA agent Claudia Messina in the Golden Globe-nominated series “Narcos,” which returns to Netflix for season 2 on September 2.  We talked about joining the cast for the second season, how the look of the show helped her get into character, and the impact she felt in filming the show on location in Columbia where the real events occurred.
