Verne Lundquist

unnamed (3)Legendary sportscaster Verne Lundquist called in for a chat about his new memoir PLAY BY PLAY: Calling the Wildest Games in Sports – From SEC Football to College Basketball, The Masters, and More.  Topics: reminiscing about the Bears-Eagles “Fog Bowl” in 1988, being present for so many historical sports moments, and making a memorable call for the ages.

Holly Robinson Peete

Holly Robinson Peete is one of our favorite guests on the show.  We usually wind up talking food (since she has kids with severe food allergies) or football (of course, her husband Rodney is a former NFL quarterback).  This time, Holly called in (from the relative peace of her son’s bunk bed!) to talk about her new reality series, “For Peete’s Sake,” airing Saturdays on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Jay Thomas

Jay Thomas called in to talk about his guest-starring appearance on “NCIS: New Orleans,” which will air tomorrow night at 9/8c on CBS-2 Chicago.  We also discussed why comedy seems to be getting dumber, how we may be seeing him once again throw a football at a meatball, and the unathletic nature of the current crop of late-night hosts.
