Kenny Loggins and Blue Sky Riders

Kenny Loggins, Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman are the Blue Sky Riders.  Their new album, “Why Not,” will be released early next year.  In the meantime, you can check out their All Access Pass, where you can see footage of the entire writing and recording process.  We talked about how the group came together, what happens when three accomplished songwriters form a band, and the importance of crowdfunding and direct fan interaction.

Sam Palladio from “Nashville” and “Strange Magic”

Sam Palladio is the voice of “Roland” in Disney’s new animated feature “Strange Magic.”  We discussed why Brits are so good at southern accents, how he restrained himself from totally geeking out when meeting George Lucas, and why he hopes he’ll soon be an action figure.

John Oates

It was an honor to talk to Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer John Oates about his new TV special, “Another Good Road,” airing Saturday night at 8 Central on Palladia and also available as part of a DVD/CD set.  We discussed the origins of the project, getting back to his roots and blues influences, his rhythm guitar playing (very underrated — it’s stellar), and how his songwriting royalty checks might be slightly larger than mine.  John is also coming to City Winery in Chicago for a show on February 10th.

LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn is bringing her “ONE Christmas” tour to the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles on December 18th.  We talked about her new Christmas record, the challenge in putting her own spin on Christmas classics, and what kind of music excites her today.
