Kane Hodder

Horror movie legend Kane Hodder called in to talk about the surprise 4th installment of the “Hatchet” series, “Victor Crowley,” which is available on digital and on demand on February 6th.  We talked about where the story picks up, why he still does his own stunts, what’s it like to literally rip someone’s head apart, and the immortal sleeping bag scene from Friday the 13th Part VII.

Colin Geddes, curator at “Shudder”

Colin Geddes is the curator at the streaming service “Shudder,” which focuses exclusively on horror films.  We discussed how they pick their films (horror movies — not terror movies) as well as some hidden gems to check out for Halloween.

Yael Grobglas from “Jane the Virgin”

Yael Grobglas plays “Petra” on the critically-acclaimed CW series Jane the Virgin, and is also starring in a new horror film, JeruZalem, which is in select theaters as well as iTunes and video on demand everywhere on Friday, January 22.   We discussed how unique it is to film a horror movie in Jerusalem, how acting in this genre has its particular challenges, and whether the sound of her beginner violin skills is better or worse than a horror movie scream.

Adam Rockoff, author of “The Horror Of It All”

Adam Rockoff is a screenwriter and television producer who is also the author of a new book: “The Horror Of It All: One Moviegoer’s Love Affair With Masked Maniacs, Frightened Virgins and the Living Dead.”  We had a fun chat about how he got into the horror genre (through a Disney movie!), why there’s always a horror film that comes out of nowhere to become a hit, and why we’re in a golden age for horror flicks.

Robert Englund

Robert Englund is, of course, best known as Freddy Krueger, but he’s had a career that’s stretched decades that has allowed him to work with some of the all-time cinema greats like Henry Fonda.  We talked about his new movie, “Fear Clinic,” how he made the transition to “older statesman”-type roles, and how he’d like to shoot his next film in Chicago to be close to the Rick Bayless restaurants!

Joelle Carter from “Justified” on her new movie, “Jessabelle.”

Joelle Carter stars as Ava Crowder on FX’s Peabody Award-winning drama “Justified.”  Her newest project is “Jessabelle,” a thriller film out today in select theatres as well as video on demand.  We discussed the audition process for the film, how she might be leading a resurgence in VHS technology, and how much she enjoyed Ben Garant’s script.  I also sneakily tried to get her to reveal spoilers for the upcoming 6th and final season of “Justified.”
