Ellie Krieger

Ellie Krieger called in to share some great recipe ideas using olive oil.  She also discussed the different types of olive oil and when to use them, and cleared up some myths about “fake” oil.  Plus:  a delicious discussion of her life-affirming double chocolate brownies.

Christy Jordan

Christy Jordan is an author and the publisher of SouthernPlate.com.  Her new book is “Sweetness: Southern Recipes to Celebrate the Warmth, the Love and the Blessings of a Full Life.”  We had a lovely conversation about food, family, and how we all have more in common than we think.  I felt better after reading her book, and even more so after speaking with Christy.

Catherine De Orio

It’s always fun to chat with “Check, Please!” host Cat De Orio, and this time she helped save me from a pre-holiday meltdown with her hints & tips on making holiday meal prep a little easier.   As you will hear (should you choose to listen — please, oh please!), she had me at “maple bourbon candied pecans” and “pie sundaes.”

Damaris Phillips

Damaris Phillips was a big winner on “The Next Food Network Star” and her show “Southern at Heart” is fun, sweet and charming.   After giving her the necessary and appropriate kudos for her ridiculously addictive fried pickles recipe, we got down to business discussing how to make the holidays stress-free and waste-free when it comes to food prep.

Steve Raichlen on his new book “Planet Smoke”

We always have fun when Barbecue Hall of Famer Steven Raichlen calls in, and this time we talked about smoking, especially the recipes in his new book “Planet Smoke” like smoked nachos, smoked cheesecake and smoked bourbon-bacon apple crisp.   Yes, please.

Chef Graham Elliot

Graham Elliot is currently seen as a judge on Fox Tv’s “Masterchef Junior.”  We talked about the incredible skills displayed by the young contestants, what continues to surprise him on the show, and why some kids think he’s too nice of a judge.  I also pitched him on opening a new restaurant near my house.

Chef Eric Greenspan

Chef Eric Greenspan returned to the show to talk more about his National Geographic Channel show “Eric Greenspan Is Hungry,” which is getting rave reviews.  This time, I made sure to pick his brain for more grilled cheese-related nuggets.

Brigitte Nguyen from Cooking Channel

Brigitte Nguyen is an accountant-turned chef who now hosts her own show on Cooking Channel, “From the Kitchens Of…”  Brigitte called in with hints & tips on adding new twists to holiday traditions.

Claire Robinson from “5 Ingredient Fix”

It’s always a great time when Claire Robinson calls in to share menu ideas or her latest cocktail creation.  Today, we talked about the “Share A Meal” program, where up to 100,000 meals will be provided for hungry families this season.  We also co-create a drink recipe live in front of your very ears!
