Drivin’ around on Mars with Bill McCormick

Bill McCormick called in from the World News Center and discussed homemade vehicles to drive around on Mars, Internet scams and more.

Lake Bell

Lake Bell called in to talk about her new movie “No Escape,” co-starring Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan, which opens nationwide on Friday.   We talked about the real tension and terror she felt while filming, why she was drawn to the role, and the differences in comedic and dramatic timing.  She also called me “the right kind of demented” for my love of “Children’s Hospital.”

Brad Goreski

Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski returns along with Giuliana Rancic and new host Melissa Rivers for “Fashion Police” on E!  New episodes begin Monday night at 7CT as they discuss the MTV Video Music Awards.  Brad talked about what we can expect this season, and also offered me some advice on getting dressed in the dark while half asleep.

Jerrod Carmichael

Jerrod Carmichael is a popular stand-up comedian who is also executive producer, writer and star of “The Carmichael Show,” which premieres Wednesday night at 9ET/8CT on NBC-5 Chicago.  We discussed the timeline from concept to pilot, Jerrod’s “elevator pitch” for the show, and what kinds of topics he’ll be tackling.

George Hamilton

I had a lot of fun chatting with George Hamilton about the fine art of “lounging” as well as his upcoming reality series on E!, “Stewarts and Hamiltons.”

Kari Byron and Tory Belleci on their new show “Thrill Factor”

You know Kari Byron and Tory Belleci from their work on the groundbreaking series “Mythbusters.”  They are now featured in a new Travel Channel show “Thrill Factor,” which explores the science behind thrill rides as they visit amusement parks across the country.  We had a fun chat about fear, monkey brains, screaming and how many times in a row one has to ride a roller coaster when shooting a TV series.

Tommy Davidson

Tommy Davidson starred on the legendary comedy series “In Living Color” and is currently featured in the animated series “Black Dynamite” on Adult Swim.  He will be switching places with Corey Feldman on “Celebrity Wife Swap” tomorrow night on ABC.  We discussed how he got involved with the show, what he’d like people to see, and a special time he hosted a party for Michael Jackson.

Luther Campbell

Luther Campbell is a legendary rapper (the leader of the 2 Live Crew) who has been fighting for free speech rights for over two decades.  His new book is “The Book of Luke: My Fight for Truth, Justice and Liberty City.”  We talked about his beginnings as an independent artist, how the 2 Live Crew quickly caught on to mainstream success (and brought about an obscenity declaration and a case before the Supreme Court), and why he continues to fight the good fight for civil liberties.

Billy West

I’ve been a fan of Billy West’s work for a long time.  We of course discussed Ren & Stimpy and Futurama, and also whether a record where he did the voice of Larry Fine actually existed or if I just hallucinated it, and what he’ll be doing on his new podcast, “The Billy West Podcast.”  Billy also was happy to drop in a few character voices!

The Movie Man reviews “Straight Outta Compton” & “The Man from UNCLE”

It’s been a disappointing summer at the movies, and The Movie Man lets us know if that trend will continue with this weekend’s new releases.
